Mille Miglia 2021
Preparation included a full service, upgrading the headlights and fitting extra driving lights to enable the car to see in the dark. Also included fitting of a Monit rally trip to enable the very accurate timing and average speed to be adhered to on the rally, which ran over 4 days.
Scrutineering…..
On Tuesday, all the competing cars went to the start line plaza, to show the cars and for the drivers to be interviewed.
Wednesday – all competitive cars went to the Mille Miglia Museum prior to the official start.
The rally went through beautiful open roads…
An issue with the battery holding it’s charge, resulted in David changing the dynamo for a dynator, which required re-wiring under the dashboard. The kill-switch, which turns all the electrics off, had an intermittent fault which David bypassed. Here is David finishing the early morning mechanical check over, having given the car a wash and polish ahead of the final day.
On arrival in Italy, Monday was signing on and putting number decals on the car.

The Museum shows the story of the Rally, which ran from 1927 to 1956.
and through towns lined with cheering spectators and local car clubs displaying their cars. The police escorts held the local traffic at roundabouts and traffic lights to speed the rally on their way.
